A Beginner’s Guide to Triathlon

This is a quick, hopefully useful Beginner's Guide to Triathlon. I've been competing in the sport for a couple of years and I wanted to put down a few hints and tips to help anybody thinking of giving Triathlon a try. We'll cover training, equipment and some race-day tips.

Escape from Alcatraz

I made it! The Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon was everything I hoped it would be; tough, fast, exciting. Hotter than I would have liked, but an absolutely great race. This is my full report of the lead up to the race, the race itself and the journey home.

Awful swim, yikes - I sucked. Cake and coffee afterwards with the lovely PiranhaTri folks made up for it. Triathlon - Yes. Baking - Yes.

Swimming this morning was tough; lots of head-up swimming. I don't know how water polo players do it; regular shoulder transplants perhaps.

Got my ass (well, jaw actually) well and truly kicked during the @TriAthy swim start, but enjoyed the race anyway. I've a lot of work to do!
