Jet Laggin All Over the World!

Tuesday, September 27th, 2005

Things are all good. We arrived in Chicago yesterday, and are settling into our mildly eccentric hotel nicely. Its beige overtones and piped in musack are hilariously non-ironic. The imitation, indoor Bourbon Street here in the hotel has to be seen to be believed…it’s tragi-kitch-tastic. There is also a hairdressing convention here this weekend…permarific.

Anyway, jet lag is featuring heavily today. Apologies for any typos featuring in this post. I hope you’re well. Cliona, I miss you, see…I said I’d mention you :)

Last Night in London

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

It’s been a very busy few weeks, and we’re leaving London tomorrow. London is great, it’s vast compared to Dublin, it’s cosmopolitan, and you get a sense of being in a place where even if you saw something new every day it’d take you an awful long time to get bored of the place. On the downside, London is expensive. I think if you were being paid in sterling it’d be no more expensive than Dublin (which is also _damn_ expensive)…unfortunately the Euro has the value of magic beans here…with the magic removed for safety purposes.

A cracking few weeks. Some of my colleagues have been burning the candle at both ends (waking up in train stations in the middle of the night for example), but we’ve all come out of it intact. So, one more night out, a wrap-up day in training, a quick flight, a day in Dublin, then on to Chicago. Hopefully, another good few weeks ahead.

Insomnia

Monday, September 19th, 2005

I haven’t slept properly in about 10 nights. Between the mild anxiety of starting a new job, and the over-tiredness which goes with the training and the nights out here, my body clock just seems to have gone a bit awry. Let’s hope tonight will be a little bit different. I’m tired. Update: Slept like a log :)
